Feminisms and 'Women's Magazines' P Sita Chanda While appropriating certain aspects of the women's movement's agenda and constructing a new sign system revolving around the subject position of 'woman', the media has served to confine feminism into a single seamless totality, an adjective rather than a form of praxis. This article, deriving its matter from two 'women's magazines' in Bengali, attempts to analyse the content of this particular kind of journalism and examine the images so projected.
