The coefficient of variation of the yields of principal crops reveals a contrast between wheat and the other crops. For wheat, unlike [or rice, etc, deviations of state yields around national average nor- rowed over the years. Also intrastate, or inter-district, variations in yield narrowed in much the same way as inter-state variations.
