Inter-State Variations in Agricultural Growth Rate, 1962 to 1974

Variations in agricultural growth rates, it is argued here, are dependent on the levels of private investment. For understanding the causes of these variations across states and of the deceleration of growth rate of agricultural production at the all-India level in the period since 1964/65, an understanding of the determinants of private investment is essential.
