The Economic & Political Weekly has retracted the article “Water Harvesting Traditions and the Social Milieu in India: A Second Look,” authored by Shri Krishan (EPW, Volume 46, Issue 26 & 27, 2011). It has come to the attention of EPW that a major part of subsection 3 of the article reproduces in identical form substantial parts of the paper “Water Management Traditions in Rural India: Valuing the Unvalued” by Nandita Singh (presented at the 18th European Conference on Modern South Asian Studies at Lund University, Sweden, 6–9 July 2004 and published in 2006 as a chapter in the volume Rural Transformation edited by H Bhargava and D Kumar).
