Poplar Wood Price Crash in Punjab

Poplar, one of the most common tree species planted under agroforestry in the north-western parts of the country, is losing its attraction among farmers because of declining economic returns. Overproduction, market exploitation and use of inappropriate planting material appear to be mainly responsible for the fall in the price of poplar wood. The situation can be saved with the concerted efforts of all stakeholders.
