Rural Industry Tile Making in Java Juliani Wahyana The introduction of new technology in tile making in Java has disrupted the social relations among its people in particular between men and women. Sexual division of labour gets reconstituted with shifts in production methods and technology, but at any given point of time acts to distribute power, resources and authority in ways that keep women subordinated. In this shift a new sexual division of labour often becomes more disadvantageous to women.
