Concerning Rise of Private Healthcare in India
.
It is concerning to note that despite the challenges posed by private hospitals, such as increased healthcare costs, inequitable access to quality healthcare, and the exploitation of healthcare workers, the government seems to be encouraging their growth. This trend is reflective of a broader trend in the country where the government is increasingly outsourcing its responsibilities regarding healthcare to the private sector.
While it is understandable that the government may not have the resources to provide quality healthcare to all its citizens, it is crucial that it regulates the private sector effectively to ensure that healthcare is affordable and accessible to all. It is also important to recognise that healthcare is a fundamental right, and it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that this right is protected and upheld.
