Is Trump a ‘Treasonous Traitor’?

The real reasons for accusing Trump of treason need to be discerned.

One cannot say that this was unexpected. It even seems to have been perfectly timed. On 13 July, three days before the Helsinki summit between the United States (US) President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, US Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein came out with his indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers for allegedly hacking the servers of the Democratic National Committee and the email account of John Podesta, the (Hillary) Clinton campaign chairperson, and for turning over the emails to WikiLeaks, which published them. This, the Democrats, US big media, and the US intelligence agencies claimed, incontrovertibly established that Russia had “subverted American democracy.”

The official indictment of Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election was, of course, high on assertion and low on evidence. But this did not seem to matter, for the Trump branding campaign by the Democrats, big media, and the intelligence agencies was already in place. Moreover, with the indictment of WikiLeaks, the Democrats and the intelligence agencies are hoping that their other ongoing campaign, against WikiLeaks’ founder Julian Assange, can now be further justified. The intelligence agencies, of course, stand exposed, what with the revelations about Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) torture, and National Security Agency (NSA) surveillance of American citizens, the latter exposed by Edward Snowden. It is not irrelevant here to remind ourselves that the whistle-blower hero and real-democrat Snowden, whom the US intelligence agencies consider a traitor, has been granted asylum in Russia till 2020.
