It is by now quite clear from the available scientific evidence that climate change, in combination with some other ecological changes, is likely to have very catastrophic consequences for human life as well as other life forms within a few decades. To some extent, this process is already under way.
The Lancet Commission on Health and Climate Change, with access to the latest scientific data, noted very recently (June 2015) that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are continuing to rise at a rate which exceeds the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's "worst case scenario." Calling climate change the biggest global health threat of the present century, this commission noted, "No region is immune from the negative impacts of climate change."
