No Sweat

Watching films in air-conditioned theatres these days is an experience bereft of the sweaty pleasures of the days of yore, according to a long-time cinemagoer.

How much does it cost to watch a film in a cinema house nowadays?

Now in my 80th year, I live in Kolara, the headquarters of the district in the old kingdom of Mysore, now the state of Karnataka. It is referred to in local newspapers (we have more than one) as pattana, meaning city, though it is nothing of that kind. I left Kolara in 1953, at the age of 17, and returned to the old and crumbling family house in 2010, to await my end.
