Foodgrain production is estimated at 250.14 million tonnes (advanced estimates) in 2012-13, which is 9.2 mt less than the final estimates of 2011-12. While a substantial decline in the production of rice, wheat and coarse grains brought down the production of cereals to 232.6 mt in 2012-13 (second AE) from 242.2 mt in 2011-12 (final), higher rabi production in pulses like gram moong pushed up total pulses production by 2.9% in 2012-13. Among commercial crops, production of oil seeds is estimated to be 294.7 lakh tonnes as against 298.0 lakh tonnes last year.
