Peevish Posturing

This is with reference to the letter (“Radical Observations, Timid Orders”, EPW, 24 December 2011).

Soni Sori is a case of brutal police torture. I am not sure if the Peoples Union for Democratic Rights (PUDR) had any role other than sympathy in the litigation involving her. At any rate, none from the PUDR seems to have been present during the hearing, for they sound unaware about the course of arguments in that case. Sad as Sori’s condition is, to vent one’s spleen upon a judgment given in another case, and one that happens to be a severe indictment of the executive’s counter-insurgency policy, is not a particularly intelligent thing to do.
