Fighting Corruption

There are two important areas that the anti-corruption movement needs to be concerned about. First, the fight against corruption at the lower level should factor in the living conditions the public servants face. Anna Hazare’s type of mass euphoria could become regressive when the lower level civil servant or someone from the minority community faces the wrath of the masses, while the big guys just reduce the propensity and intensity of corrupt practices for a while.

The second area no one in the Anna Hazare group is talking about is the inculcation of ethics in the general public. As a “Gandhian” one was expecting that Anna Hazare would be concerned first about ethics and then about the law.
