The 'State' Revealed in Newspaper Headlines

A study of newspaper headlines often makes more than a statement on the nature of state and society. In this chronological analysis of different events as reported by two local newspapers in Bhopal and Patna, an attempt has been made to understand the circumstances, sociological and factual, that conspired to bring about the occurrence of these events.
