Job Quotas in the Private Sector

The Left parties' demand for reservation in the private sector must be seen in the context of the gap between the constitutional mandate and manoeuvres by upper castes, bureaucrats and politicians, and the resultant disillusionment of the deprived sections. It is premature to conclude whether this demand will materialise, but it throws up at least four issues that demand attention.
