Expansion for Profit Over the next 10 years the health care is expected to grow to be a Rs 2,30,000 crore, contributing 6.2 to 7.5 per cent to the GDP. The industry, according to a recent study by CII- McKinsey, is among the rapidly expanding sectors over a time when economic growth indicators were none too healthy. Even as state financing has either shrunk or has been diverted to specific areas, considered essential, private health care has grown quickly, widening its range of activities. Not only have general and specialist hospitals, nursing homes and individual practices grown, but there has also been a proliferation of sophisticated diagnostic and pathological service centres. This pattern of expansion
