INDIAN HOTELS Strategic Repositioning For the greater part of the year to March 2000, the Tata group company, Indian Hotels (IH) had to share the lackadaisical state of the Indian hospitality industry.It was only towards the end of the year that there was some revival. The company could draw on the late revival to spruce up its performance. Yet it could not do as well as was expected as the total income from rooms, restaurants, banquets and other services was near flat at Rs 591 crore (Rs 589 crore). As a result net profit was down 5 per cent to Rs 113 crore ( Rs 119 crore ). Income from room rentals dropped 5 per cent while food and beverages income improved 4 per cent. Ratan Tata, chairman, says,
