Safety on Indian Railways

A critical review of the safety situation in the Indian Railways shows grave problems at all levels. Maintenance lapses of track and of moving stock, outdated technology, unimaginative human resource management practices, poor investment in research as well as serious systemic and managerial problems have contributed to the situation.
