Fallen Angel

We are appalled by both the tone   and content of your editorial on the Insurance Bill (December 4, 1999). Our reaction comes not because we are unfamiliar with the arguments presented in it, which are fairly trite and well known and indeed have been presented by both official spokesmen and sections of the mainstream financial press (which celebrates foreign investment in all sectors but its own).

Rather, the source of our surprise is that the EPW should choose not only to publish such views but even claim them as editorial position.
