Private Concerns THE recent dispute between the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) and the Press Council of India revives an old issue, which despite its relevance, somehow seems to get relegated to the background in discussions and debates about the Indian media today. It relates to the problems emanating from the control structure of the Indian press, the major national and regional segments of which are owned by private business interests.
