Whither Studies of Asian Democratisation?
Olle Tornquist While new popular forces are quite successful as single issue pressure groups, or in deepening civil, society and generating social capital within various groups, and sometimes even communities as a whole, at the grass roots level, there is little convergence and little generation of broader issues, perspectives and organisation which may produce wider politics of democratisation in the society at large.
