Hindutva Judgment THIS refers to the recent Supreme Court judgment on Hindutva. If the Supreme Court has held that Hindutva is a way of life, it can only mean thai it is human/social practice. It cannot mean a stale of mind at the same time. Il it is stale of mind, which governs human/social action, then it transforms itself into a social activity, which should provide concrete material to define Hindutva. But Hindutva as a two-nation theory can hardly he the foundation of national unity it is in sharp conflict with the basic structureof the Constitution, which defines our nationalism and culture as democratic, socialist and secular resting on the foundation of social, economic and political equality, liberty and fraternity of free citizens. Coercive obedience, to an abstract collectivity, therefore, cannot be the basis ol national culture.
