Household Financing of Health Care

S K Sanyal This article uses the results of three well known surveys on health care expenditure and utilisation to elicit information on patterns of household expenditure on government and private sources of treatment, changes in utilisation patterns and differentials across economic classes. Revenue earnings of hospitals are computed to arrive at plausible macro- level estimates of the additional resources which could be generated from small and large hospitals.
