The outcome of the meeting turned out to be most useful The 29 economists who met in Calcutta for three days (October 10, 11 and 12) concluded their deliberations with a unanimous statement which challenged the currently fashionable official policy shibboleths and presented alternative policy approaches which they considered to be "immediately feasible".
