Impact of Household Contract System on Women in Rural China

In particular, it aims to fa) show how the effects of the current economic reforms have been largely negative for women; (b) examine the ideological terms in which the woman question has been discussed in China; and (c) discuss the strong reactions which the official policies of mobilising women for the modernisation programmes have evoked from the Women's Federation of China.
