Decontrol Bonanza Hansavivek INDIA CEMENTS has fared very well during 1982-83 with substantially higher turnover and profits due mainly to partial decontrol or prices and higher realisation on levy and non- levy cement. Capacity utilisation during first five months reached a peak of 91 per cent, but tapered off thereafter due to severe power cut in Tamil Nadu since October 1982. Capacity utilisation of company's two plants was 66 per cent as against 83 per cent achieved in previous year and that of industry in the state 69 per cent and 84 per cent. All-India capacity utilisation was 76 per cent and 73 per cent, respectively. Orders have been placed for three of the four generators of 2,000 KVA each, which are expected to be installed and commissioned by January or February 1984. Estimated cost of the four generators is Rs 3.5 crore and cost of cap- live power is estimated at about three times higher than grid power.
