Waiting for Innovations to Pay Hansavivek DUNLOP INDIA has completed an important phase of modernisation and expansion programme at Sahaganj by installing 28th Bag-O-Matie press for truck tyre manufacture. The rnulti- crore rupee programme now being implemented will enable the company to embrace advanced technology, diversify into specialised areas and set new standards in product performance. The company has developed a radial car tyre, introduced a new truck tyre design and also started production of nylon car tyre. It has also introduced a more modern and versatile tractor tyre and further widened the range of agricultural products by introducing heavy duty tyres for animal-drawn vehicles. The company designed and developed a more efficient bullock cart which has a far greater load carrying capacity shan those now used. It commenced commercial production of all- synthetic fabric conveyor belting at the Sahaganj factory. The sophisticated assembly line for its manufacture was locally made, saving Rs 30 lakh in foreign exchange. In addition, a number of ether special purpose beltings for heat and chemical resistance and various other applications were added to the range.
