Ambitious Expansion Plans Hansavivek LARSEN AND TOUBRO has planned a capital expenditure of Rs 97 crores for the next four years in order to achieve further rapid growth by widening the product base and enlarging the manufacturing facilities. Included in this .programme is the setting up of a cement plant at Chandrapur with a capacity of 3,200 tonnes per day for which the company has received a 'letter of intent' from the government. In addition, the company is constructing shops at Ahmednagar for fabrication of light engineering equipment and electrical products. At Bangalore the company is investing in facilities manufacture hydraulic components so as to increase the indigenous content in its hydraulic excavators. At powar in Bombay, it is installing sophisticated machines for the manufacture of multi- wall vessels and high pressure heat exchanges in the heavy workshop.
