ENERGY Still No Policy R S Ganapathy NINE months after the much-awaited formation of the Ministry of Energy, no guidelines have still emerged about energy policy goals and R and D strategies. The Ministry now consists of a Department of Power and a Department of Coal It also has the responsibility for formulating, reviewing and co-ordinating energy policy. Apart from a minor reorganisation of functions, no major decision on energy R and D has been taken. The Fuel Policy Committee submitted its recommendations in May 1974, but they are still under the 'active consideration' of the government.
