LOCO STRIKE-Bossism Derailed

August 25, 1973 NONE of the nine, determined, unknown men who came to New Delhi (travelling by air for the first time in their arduous, prosaic lives) to negotiate the striking locomen's demands was a professional trade unionist. They were unsophisticated loeomen who would not he bullied into submission by the Defence of India Rules, Tu fact, the tenth leader was held under the DIR even as he was on his way to New Delhi for the negotiations that eventually ended the 12-elay-old loco- men's strike and reduced their 14-hour work day to a 10-hour one.
