Moonshine on Employment
BHARAT HEAVY ELECTRICALS was formed in 1964 to take over the three units of Heavy Electricals (India) which, besides administering the Bhopal factory at that time was also constructing three new units at Tiruchirapalli, Hyderabad and Hardwar. The Timchi unit, set up with Czech collaboration, manufactures heavy pressure boilers; the Hyderabad unit, biult with Czech and Swedish collaboration, produces heavy power equipment (turbo sets) and switchgears; and the Hardwar unit, the biggest of the three, manufactures heavy electrical equipment (steam turbines, etc) with Soviet assistance. Total capital investment on these projects till March 31, 1971 was about Rs 145.5 crores.
