C V H Rao HOW far has the new strategy for increasing agricultural production sue- ceeded? The strategy comprises systematic encouragement of the use of high-yielding varieties of rice and other seeds and extension of the areas under them, concentration on intensive district agricultural development programme or the package approach, development of minor irrigation in areas out of the range of major irrigation projects, introduction of multiple cropping and measures of soil conservation.
