New Season Begins

THE COTTON ADVISORY BOARD of which the Textile Commissioner is the Chairman, is to meet in Bombay on Friday. Though some modifications suggested by the trade have been incorporated in the industry's scheme of voluntary price control cotton authorities are not optismistic about the success of a scheme of price control unsupported by statutory authority. It is quite possible that the hands of the Textile Commissioner have been forced by continued reports of transactions in new crop Baramati cotton at about Rs 750 per candy above the official ceiling.
