IT was in February 1990 that Tariq Bhutta of the department of paediatric medicine, and diarrhoea training unit, Nishtar Medical College and Hospital, Multan, Pakistan appealed through the pages of The Lancet to Johnson and Johnson to withdraw the antidiarrhoel drug Imodium after the death of six babies who received Imodium drops in his hospital.
