Romesh Thapat THE pathetic level at which Indian politics functions was best illustrated by the irresponsible way senior leaders of various parties and factions reacted to a totally false story put out by the UNI about some rather startling state- inents alleged to have been made by RSS chief Deoras at a closed meeting. The story was so absurd in the context of the RSS debate that only fools would have accepted it as authentic, but our stalwarts immediately started scoring debating points and some seized the opportunity to change sides.
