In November 2011, students of a basic course in Economics at Harvard University walked out of the classroom in protest against what they saw as the one-sidedness of the curriculum. What kind of macroeconomics is on the curriculum in Indian Universities? A select survey.

Some Omissions

The survey on experimental economics (EPW, 27 August, Vol XLVI, No 35) was exhaustive. However, there were some important omissions.

With the passing of the birth centenary of the great development economist, Ragnar Nurkse, it is time to examine the curriculum of development economics in Indian universities, and particularly, Nurksian contributions to the subject matter.
